Relevant Material: "If the warning light comes on, you should stop and adjust the tires to the proper inflation pressure as soon as possible. (See “Tire inflation pressures” on page 9-19.) Once adjustments have been made, the warning light will go off after a few minutes of driving. If the warning light blinks for approximately 1 minute and then remains continu ously illuminated, the system is not operating properly. If the system returns to nor mal, the warning light will go off. If the warning light does not go off, have the vehicle inspected at an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer....

A tire is punctured... 1. Park the vehicle in a safe place where the surface is flat and level. 2. Replace the flat tire with the spare tire..

VEHICLE ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. 3 Examples of modifications to your vehicle that can cause damage or performance problems include the following: Failure to use Mitsubishi Motors genuine parts Failure to use required fuel and fluids Failure to use proper size tires and wheels Modification of the fuel, intake, exhaust, emission, suspension, engine, drive train or electrical wiring systems Modification of any onboard computer/control module, including reprogramming, or replacing/adding chips to any onboard computer/control module..Tires and wheels which do not meet specifications must not be used....Tires and wheels Since the driving torque can be applied to the four wheels, the driving performance of the vehicle when operating in 4-wheel drive is greatly affected by the condition of the tires..Pay close attention to the tires. Install only the specified tires on all wheels. Refer to “Tires and wheels” on page 11-7. Be sure all four tires and wheels are the same size and type. When it is necessary to replace any of the tires or wheels, replace all four. All tires should be rotated before the wear difference between the front and rear tires is recognizable. Good vehicle performance cannot be expected if there is a difference in wear between tires. Refer to “Tire rotation” on page 9-20. Check the tire inflation pressure regularly. Always use tires of the same size, type, and brand that have no wear differences. Using tires of different size, type, brands or degree of wear, will increase the differential oil temperature and result in possible damage to the driving system. Further, the drive train will be subject to excessive loading, possibly leading to oil leakage...

...Tire pressure monitoring system warning light / display N00532701334 When the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position or the operation mode is put in ON, the tire pressure monitoring system warning light normally illuminates and goes off a few seconds later. If one or more of the vehicle tires (except for the spare tire) is significantly under-inflated, the warning light will remain illuminated while the ignition switch is in the “ON” position or the operation mode is put in ON. Refer to “If the warning light / display illuminates while driving” on page 5-140 and take the necessary measures...If the tire pressure monitoring system warning light does not illuminate when the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position or the operation mode is put in ON, it means that the tire pressure monitoring system is not working properly. Have the system inspected by an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer. In such situations, a malfunctioning of the system may be preventing the monitoring of the tire pressure. Avoid sudden braking, sharp turning and high-speed driving. If a malfunction is detected in the tire pres sure monitoring system, the tire pressure monitoring system warning light will blink for approximately 1 minute and then remain continuously illuminated. The warning light will issue further warnings each time the engine is restarted as long as the malfunction exists. Check to see whether the warning light goes off after few minutes driving. If it then goes off during driving, there is no problem. However, if the warning light does not go off, or if it blinks again when the engine is restarted, have the vehicle inspected by an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer. In such situations, a malfunctioning of the system may be preventing the monitoring of the tire pressure. For safety reasons, when the warning light appears while driving, avoid sudden braking, sharp turning and high-speed driving....Under-inflation also reduces fuel efficiency and tire tread life, and may affect the vehicle’s handling and stopping ability. Please note that the TPMS is not a substitute for proper tire maintenance, and it is the driver’s responsibility to maintain correct tire pressure, even if under-inflation has not reached the level to trigger illumination of the TPMS low tire pressure telltale. Each tire, including the spare (if provided), should be checked monthly when cold and inflated to the inflation pressure recommended by the vehicle manufacturer on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label. (If your vehicle has tires of a different size than the size indicated on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label, you should determine the proper tire inflation pressure for those tires.) As an added safety feature, your vehicle has been equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that illuminates a low tire pressure telltale when one or more of your tires is significantly under-inflated. Accordingly, when the low tire pressure tell tale illuminates, you should stop and check your tires as soon as possible, and inflate them to the proper pressure. Driving on a significantly under-inflated tire causes the tire to overheat and can lead to tire failure. Your vehicle has also been equipped with a TPMS malfunction indicator to indicate when the system is not operating properly. The TPMS malfunction indicator is combined with the low tire pressure telltale. When the system detects a malfunction, the telltale will flash for approximately one minute and then remain continuously illuminated. This sequence will continue upon subsequent vehicle start-ups as long as the malfunction exists. When the malfunction indicator is illuminated, the system may not be able to detect or signal low tire pressure as intended. TPMS malfunctions may occur for a variety of reasons, including the installation of replacement or alternate tires or wheels on the vehicle that prevent the TPMS from functioning properly. Always check the TPMS mal function telltale after replacing one or more tires or wheels on your vehicle to ensure that the replacement or alternate tires and wheels... The tire pressure monitoring system may not work normally in the following circumstances: A wireless facility or device using the same frequency is near the vehicle. Snow or ice is stuck inside the fenders and/or on the wheels. The tire inflation pressure sensor’s battery is dead. Wheels other than Mitsubishi genuine wheels are being used. Wheels that are not fitted with tire inflation pressure sensors are being used. Wheels whose ID codes are not memorized by the vehicle are used. Compact spare tire is fitted as a road wheel..." Relevant Material: "In North America, tire-related accidents are a significant safety issue, with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) reporting tens of thousands of crashes and hundreds of fatalities annuallyIn the U.S., tire failure alone causes an estimated 11,000 crashes and 200-600+ deaths per year, while overall tire-related issues are linked to approximately 33,000 crashes and 600+ fatalities in some reports. Underinflation, worn-out treads, and tire damage are common causes, with underinflated tires being especially dangerous, particularly in hot weather.

Key Statistics
  • Crashes: Tire-related issues are responsible for about 33,000 crashes annually in the U.S.
  • Fatalities: Tire failure and other tire-related problems result in over 600 fatalities each year, with some years having higher figures, like 664 deaths in 2020.
  • Injuries: These crashes lead to approximately 19,000 to 20,000 injuries annually.
Causes of Tire-Related Accidents
  • Tire Underinflation:
This is a major cause, leading to more stress and heat, which increases the risk of a blowout.
  • Tire Damage:
Previously damaged tires or those experiencing tread separation are more prone to failure.
  • Worn Treads:
Worn-out tire treads reduce grip and control, increasing the likelihood of an accident.
  • Vehicle Type:
SUVs are at a higher risk for rollovers due to tire issues, with a 45% rollover rate in tire-related crashes.
Factors that Increase Risk
  • Hot Weather:
Combined with hot temperatures, underinflation can quickly lead to tire blowouts.
  • High Speeds:
While tire blowouts can happen anytime, they are harder to control at higher speeds.
  • Lack of Maintenance:
Failing to maintain proper tire pressure and rotation increases the risk of various tire failures..." (Google)
